Benefits of Body Laser Treatment

Angeli Angelos • Aug 02, 2023

There are many different types of laser treatments for the body. Laser therapy, rejuvenation, and skin resurfacing are among the most common. Lasers are used for a wide range of health treatments from medicinal to cosmetic. Lasers can remove tissue to relieve pain, to reduce inflammation and edema, to heal deep tissue and nerve problems, and more. Learn what sort of treatment is best for your beauty and health goals!

Cosmetic laser treatments for the body helps
refresh your skin - whether on your face or your body or anywhere you want treatment (some more sensitive parts may require numbing cream). You should be especially careful if you are using laser treatments near your eyes. Our professionals will be sure that the lasers do not get anywhere near or in your eyes.

Laser treatments can remove tattoos or unwanted hair, reduce acne, improve the look of wrinkles, age spots, or veins, and tighten sagging skin. Lasers work with your body’s natural healing systems

During your treatment, your skincare professional will use a laser to target the area you are working on. Depending on the treatment, the laser will damage the first layer of your skin which triggers cell turnover and stimulates new tissue growth, giving your skin a refreshed look and feel.

Laser skin rejuvenation cosmetic treatments deliver a more youthful appearance. These treatments reduce the look of age spots, fine lines, acne scarring, skin laxity, large pores, and more. Laser skin rejuvenation can be performed for facial skin, the back of hands, or any part of the body. You may need several treatments to get your desired results.

Your laser skin rejuvenation sessions could last between 2-3 hours depending on your skincare goals. After your appointment, you may need someone to pick you up if you were given any anesthesia. You may have a temporary loss of pigment in the treated areas, but this is rarely permanent. If you experience some blistering or bruising, contact your laser skincare professional.

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic treatment that permanently removes unwanted hair anywhere on your body. Dr. Yates offers effective and safe laser hair removal and after about 8-12 monthly sessions you will never have to worry about shaving or waxing again!

Your treatments should last only about 30-60 minutes and you will be able to leave your appointment without needing any down time. You may notice some redness, inflammation, or itchiness after your appointment. If these persist, contact your laser hair removal specialist.

Laser skin resurfacing is a cosmetic procedure to specifically target the effects of sun damage and aging blemishes on your face. Your appointment will likely take between 1-2 hours. After your procedure, your doctor will cover your skin with moisturizers, sun screen, and sometimes bandages to protect against further sun damage.

You may experience redness, swelling, and itchiness as your new skin heals. Use an ice pack to relieve some of these symptoms and take any pain reliever. After your appointment, you should notice younger, more refreshed looking skin in as little as 4 weeks.

Depending on what your skin care goals are, one of these laser treatments could be the perfect fit for you. At
Dr. Yates Lifestyle MedSpa, your goals are our priority. We want you to look and feel your best - without hurting your wallet! Book your free consultation with Dr. Yates Lifestyle MedSpa today!

What is microneedling? Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that involves small, sterilized needles puncturing the top layer of the skin. Sometimes a skincare serum is placed on the skin before or after needling to help with healing and inflammation. Microneedling creates superficial wounds on your skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production . This treatment has few potential side effects and gives you excellent results with only a few treatments. Microneedling can help mitigate several skin issues: Acne scars Sun damage Wrinkles Enlarged pores Fine lines Stretch marks What happens during your treatment? Try to arrive early to your microneedling appointment to fill out any important paperwork, and to have your face numbed. Depending on where you get your treatment, your skincare specialist may put on a collagen serum to encourage collagen production afterward. During your treatment, your specialist will use microneedling tools on your face and neck, running the needles horizontally and vertically across your skin. The needles on these tools will be sterilized and range from 0.5 mm to 2.5 mm in length. Talk to your specialist about which size is best for your skincare goals. Your appointment should last only 30 minutes, and after the microneedling, your specialist may do a calming face mask or lather moisturizer on your skin to keep it protected on your trip home. Microneedling can be added to your regular monthly facial appointments. Does microneedling hurt? Your skin will be numbed for your appointment, but there can be some pain or discomfort during and after your appointment. You may experience redness, inflammation, or swelling in the days following your appointment. If this persists past a week, talk to your doctor. What should you do after your treatment? You can go right home after your treatment. There is no downtime or recovery time required. You may want to rest, but if you have plans there is no need to cancel them. Try not to wear cosmetics or heavy makeup after your treatment. Who should not get microneedling? The best candidate for microneedling is relatively healthy with no history of inflammation issues. People with active cystic acne or who are on medication for their acne (like Accutane) should not get microneedling as it could damage their skin barrier and increase inflammation. How often should you get this treatment? For the best possible results, you should try to come in once a month for several months . However, the frequency of this treatment depends on the length of the needle you are using. The longer the needle is, the less frequently you should have this treatment performed. Ready to get started on your microneedling journey? Dr. Yates Lifestyle Med Spa offers excellent microneedling at a price you can afford, with results you’ll love. All people experience the formation of wrinkles as they age, and many opt to use injectable Botox or dermal filler treatments to fix or fend off the appearance of wrinkles. There are a couple of differences between these treatment options, but both Botox and dermal fillers can be highly effective and long-lasting. Discover which treatment is best for your goals and your specific wrinkle formations. The main difference between these injectables is which wrinkled areas are being addressed. Botox injections are primarily used to fight dynamic wrinkles . These wrinkles come naturally from muscle movement, especially around the eyes, forehead, and mouth. Botox injections diminish the look of these wrinkles by relaxing the muscles in these areas. Botox can also be used to treat neurological disorders, migraines, and other health problems. Dermal fillers are used to alter the appearance of wrinkles by adding volume to the face in areas that have lost subcutaneous fat due to natural aging, usually around the lips, mouth, and cheeks. There are many different types of dermal fillers, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Talk to your doctor about which they would recommend for your personal goals. Dermal fillers can also be used for improving the appearance of scars and aging hands. Both Botox and dermal fillers are highly effective and provide long-lasting results. With Botox, you should see your final results within a few days of your appointment and should have minimal side effects . With dermal fillers, your final results will be visible within a week of your procedure. Before your procedure, talk to your doctor about any pre-existing conditions you may have that could affect your results. Botox and dermal fillers have both been around for decades and are medical grade procedures. This means that you will get medical grade results, but you may experience some symptoms or side effects that can occur doing any routine procedure. If you experience any of these side effects for an extended amount of time, contact your doctor for further instructions. Botox and dermal fillers are not recommended for people who are pregnant or smokers. You will get the best results if you are in overall good health. Be aware that both Botox and dermal fillers can have side effects, although most patients tolerate these treatments well. Side effects of Botox could be: Drooping eyelids Bruising at the injection site Eye redness Headaches Side effects of dermal fillers could be: Redness Scarring Sores Bruising Infection Allergic reaction Itching Numbness Botox treatments last for about 3–4 months and you will need additional treatments in order to keep up your results. Dermal fillers last longer than Botox, depending on the type of filler you get. However, you will also need additional treatments to maintain your filler results. Botox and dermal fillers are medical procedures, so it is important to have them performed by medical professionals with medical-grade equipment, like the professionals at the Dr. Yates Lifestyle MedSpa. Choosing which injectable to get is an important decision. Take your time to do your research, and talk to your doctor about your goals before booking an appointment. Laser resurfacing works to combat the effects of aging and sun damage and is customizable based on your skincare goals. Laser resurfacing can reduce the effects of aging, like fine lines, or deep wrinkles. This laser treatment can also brighten your skin tone and smooth unwanted texture. Blemishes like sun spots, age spots, and freckles can also be removed using this treatment. Laser resurfacing is an effective way to combat the results of sun damage. While laser resurfacing is a common cosmetic procedure, there are still some risks. Some people have experienced a change in the tone of their skin afterward. There is sometimes redness, itchiness, swelling, or pain after the procedure. Some people temporarily experience acne like milia as a side effect. Laser skin resurfacing can also cause scarring or infection. Talk with your doctor and your MedSpa specialist about your concerns ahead of your appointment. There are a couple of things to keep in mind ahead of your appointment. Laser resurfacing may not be right for you if you have an auto-immune disease or a weak immune system . Doctors may not recommend this procedure if you have had radiation therapy on your face or previous laser resurfacing procedures. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should wait until you are no longer pregnant before getting this procedure done. If you have darker-toned skin, you should be careful considering this procedure could change the tone of your skin. Before your laser treatment, you will need to have a consultation appointment with your doctor to discuss a few things. Your doctor will ask you about your medical history to check for anything that could affect your results. They will also look at the current state of your skin to check the tone and thickness before agreeing that laser resurfacing is right for you. Ask your doctor any questions you might have before your procedure so you can be sure laser resurfacing is right for you. For your actual laser procedure, you can start preparing as long as a month in advance. If you are smoking, you must stop at least 2 weeks before your appointment. If you have a history of viral infections, your doctor may prescribe you an antiviral medication you must take before and after your procedure. Ahead of your appointment, avoid unprotected sun exposure as this could damage your skin. On the day of your appointment, shower before your procedure, as you may need to rest afterward. While you can opt to do one round of laser resurfacing, you can do more if you want. You will still get excellent results after just one session, but your Med Spa specialist may recommend you do one round per month for about three months - the decision is all yours based on your goals and comfort level. During the procedure, your doctor will numb the skin with medication. If you are getting major resurfacing done, your doctor may give you a mild sedative. During the procedure, the laser will burn off your outermost layer of skin, while heating and healing the layer beneath it, to encourage collagen production. Usually, your procedure will be over within 1-2 hours. Right after your laser treatment, your doctor will apply heavy creams and moisturizers to your skin, and cover it with a dressing. There is no way to speed up healing after your laser treatment. Be patient and rest while you wait for your excellent results to reveal themselves. Be sure to have a ride pre-arranged for after your procedure. You may be sedated and unable to drive yourself home. As you rest and heal, you may experience redness, itchiness, and swelling. Take any pain reliever and use ice packs to calm these sensations. At Dr. Yates Lifestyle MedSpa , we use non-ablative lasers , which means your recovery time will move a lot faster than done with an ablative laser. You should notice smoother and less textured skin within 4 weeks . During and after those 4 weeks, be sure to use sun protection every day. Too much sun exposure can reverse the results of your laser treatment. To ensure you get the best results from your laser treatment, follow your doctor’s instructions in both preparation and aftercare. Think laser skin resurfacing might be right for you? Preparing for a med spa appointment is pretty different than preparing for a regular spa appointment. For a normal spa day, you just need to show up ready to relax. A med spa appointment usually starts with a consultation with a medical professional to discuss your skin, hair, and body goals. Schedule your appointment (or appointments, if you are getting a treatment that requires multiple visits) with ample preparation time and ample recovery time. For some treatments like laser therapy or injectables . Because the treatments at a med spa are medical grade, they may require you to stay out of the sun afterwards or to elevate or rest the area. Talk to your doctor about what medications you should stop taking or topical treatments to stop using before your appointment. Before going to the spa, you may be asked to discontinue the use of some topical treatments or even some medications. Talk to your spa therapist about which ones to stop using and why. Try not to do anything to your skin that is out of your normal routine - we want to spend our time addressing your skin concerns that come up naturally. You should shower before you go to the spa. You can wash your hair and shave if you want before your spa appointment. Depending on what treatment you are getting, you may be asked to shave before or to hold off on showering for a few hours after your appointment. On the day of your appointment, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your spa appointment. For many people, this is leggings or sweatpants and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. Depending on what sort of treatment you are getting, you may be given a robe to change into. What are the do s and don’t s of a spa? Try to arrive at your appointment 10-15 minutes early. This gives you time to check in, fill out any necessary paperwork, get comfortable, and prepare yourself for the treatment. If you are given a robe, you may choose to remove your clothes. Most people undress to their own level of comfort - for some, that means leaving their comfy leggings on, and for others that means keeping their underwear on underneath the robe. Keep in mind the treatments you are getting to guide your decisions. For a full-body massage treatment, like body-contouring , talk to your therapist beforehand about any concerns you have, whether about your own body or about the treatment itself. It’s your appointment - what you want is most important! During your treatment, your body will be draped except for the area your therapist is working on. Most people go completely nude for these treatments, but some women prefer to keep their underwear on or opt for a pair of disposable underwear if offered. You should shower on the day of your facial so that when you leave you won’t have to worry about washing off all the good creams and treatments that were applied during your facial. If you regularly wash your face in the morning, you can do so on the day of your treatment. Although your face will be washed and treated during your facial itself, come in bare-faced, with no makeup. Talk to your therapist about what your skincare goals are ahead of time, so they know what issues to focus on. A laser hair-removal treatment or a laser therapy treatment requires some intentional preparation. Talk to your laser therapist about your medications, shower to remove any creams or makeup, and stop waxing and plucking at least 4-6 weeks before your appointment. The root needs to be present in order for the laser hair removal to work. Before going to the spa, you shouldn’t be fasting, but you also should avoid eating a huge meal less than an hour before your treatment. Don’t expose the area you are having laser therapy or hair removal to the sun - even minor sun damage can affect the treatment. Laser hair removal requires multiple appointments for the best results, usually spaced 8-10 weeks apart. During those weeks, you can wax and shave like normal, until about 4-6 weeks before your next appointment. Preparing for Botox is simple - it’s a very easy treatment, with the whole procedure lasting about 10-15 minutes. Try to avoid drinking alcohol within 12-24 hours of your appointment. Stop using topical treatments - talk to your Botox professional about which ones and why. Stop plucking, tweezing, and waxing before your appointment. If you are wearing makeup on the day of your appointment, it will have to be removed, at least at the injection site area. After your Botox appointment, you should be able to go back to your routine. You may have a slight headache afterward, so have some Advil on hand. While a tip of 15-20% is expected for some spa treatments, that is not true for med spa treatments performed by medical professionals, like Botox. Try to keep your head elevated for at least 4 hours after your treatment. Botox starts to break down in the areas that are frequently used - lips and eyes. Any anti-aging treatments will help prolong the effects of Botox: avoiding sun damage, hydrating your skin, using collagen and antioxidant serums, and keeping your stress levels low. You can avoid consuming foods and beverages associated with thinning your blood (alcohol, caffeine, salmon, etc.) to stave off bruising after Botox. Another way to prevent bruising is to avoid taking hot showers or baths, although you can shower after your appointment. Whichever treatment you choose, make sure you are also choosing the right med spa. At Dr. Yates Lifestyle Med Spa , we guarantee you and your goals are our main priorities. Rest and relax as we help uncover your natural beauty and confidence. Book your appointment for Dr. Yates Lifestyle Med Spa today!

In our past blog post , we talked about what is Regenerative Medicine and the role that Stem Cells play. We are now going to explore more about the uses of Regenerative Medicine and its benefits in different medical fields. Uses of Regenerative Medicine Through the use of stem cell therapy, doctors are developing completely new ways to treat and manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart failure, nerve disease, bone and joint conditions. It is also utilized to help Skin Trauma Victims, Skin Aging and Hair Regeneration. Rejuvenation Skin is our largest organ and it experiences the most exposure over time, hence suffering from aging. As time passes our skin develops fine lines and wrinkles that can successfully be treated with Regenerative Medicine. Injecting the areas to be treated with your own cells yields great results and minimal risks. The most sought after procedures are: - Platelet Rich Plasma . Using a sterile tube, your own blood gets spun by a centrifuge in order to separate the components of your blood; blood cells are divided from the plasma which now contains a higher than normal number of platelets, this is known as platelet rich plasma or PRP. These platelets are the cells that promote cell growth and regeneration that when injected into the face, neck, hands or desired area, act as a trigger for your skin to generate collagen growth, tissue regeneration, smoothing and tightening your skin, giving it better texture and tone. -Fat grafting & Adipose Cell Therapy. This innovative technique allows for a neat transfer of fat which is rich in mesenchymal stem cells. Adipose derived stem cells, are easily separated from fat tissue allowing for a minimally invasive “natural filler” to be used to plump areas of need or fill in lines and aging skin while stimulating growth factors. Replacement Regenerative Medicine has opened doors to the possibility of replacing damaged organs/cells with healthy ones while overcoming the risks of immunosuppression. In the cosmetic industry, the most sought out regenerative medicine procedures are: -Scar Treatment. After trauma, our skin heals itself sometimes leaving scars that can be treated with regenerative therapies followed by the use of Low Level Laser Therapy to promote healing. -PRP for Hair Growth. Using the same principle of blood separation by centrifuge, the Platelet Rich Plasma is injected into the scalp activating natural growth factors that stimulate hair growth and slows hair shedding. Organ Regeneration This process involves delivering specific types of cells to sick or diseased organs with the purpose of regenerating organ function. Bone marrow transplants are the most popular type of regeneration, however as science develops, new and improved ways to apply cell regeneration toward the need of organ transplants and organ donation. Regenerative Medicine provides us with the most cost effective with minimal risks and long term solutions for our health, be it cosmetic procedures, hair loss solutions and even life saving outcomes. At Dr. Yates LifeStyle Med we strive to provide our patients with the best quality of care, give us a call to schedule your procedure!
